HBO Sets Date for Big Love Season 3 Premiere
Will Scheffer, one of the creators of Big Love, has finally set the date for third season of of the HBO series. According to eonline.com, fans can enjoy new episodes of the polygamy-themed drama beginning January 11, 2009. As a result of the writers' strike, Big Love season 3 along with other HBO series like Entourage and Flight of the Conchords have all been delayed until the fall. But while Entourage is likely to premiere in September, Big Love and Flight of the Conchords are now projected to premiere next year, which is later than first expected.
Meanwhile, Big Love fans have a lot to look forward to when the new season begins. In fact, we have already hinted on some big spoilers in this previous article. But for those who are hungry for more, read on.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
As reported previously, the writers of Big Love have been toying with the possibility of a “fourth wife candidate” for polygamist Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton). Ana (Branka Katic), the waitress at a local diner who has captured Bill's attention, has been introduced in a three-episode story arc, which resulted in Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) encouraging Bill to bring Ana into the family as Bill's new wife.
This will initially come as a struggle for first wife Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) but eventually, she'll be able to deal with it, just like everyone else in the family. And just as Barb begins to accept the idea of Bill dating Ana, an Australian from Ana's past will arrive and Zap2it.com reporters that his presence will reportedly blindside all parties involved.
If that's not enough, here's more scandalous drama that will hopefully blow your mind. The new season of Big Love will also feature a mother who will attempt to take her kid's life. Zap2it.com hints that this involves a mother and son we know quite well and that it's a “main character's mama, whom we've met before.”

Being picky with roles has aided this WIF honoree
June 16, 2008, 07:00 PM Ginnifer Goodwin's studied turns in 2005's "Walk the Line" and HBO's "Big Love" have earned her WIF's MaxMara Face of the Future Award. Trisha Tucker for The Hollywood Reporter talked to the actress.
The Hollywood Reporter: The MaxMara Award is for an actress at a turning point in her career. What would you identify as your turning point?
Ginnifer Goodwin: Certainly being a part of my first film, (2003's) "Mona Lisa Smile." That certainly set my standards in co-stars, in producers, in the quality of the writing and the material and the direction. That movie absolutely defined my path. And I would say that, surprisingly, "Big Love" is probably the biggest turning point in my career. Because the number of folks who flock to the movie theater to see big studio films is so much larger than the number of people who watch HBO, I've been surprised that more opportunities have come from "Big Love" than have arisen from other projects in my life.
THR: The interactions between the three wives provide "Big Love" some of its best moments. What's your on-set relationship like with Chloe Sevigny and Jeanne Tripplehorn?
Goodwin: I am absolutely surprised that I've worked with these people now for five years and we have no drama. We have no divas. It's the healthiest, most collaborative, prioritized set. These women are women whose real lives and families, and what I judgmentally consider very good values, come first. ...
People seem to be shocked when they do photo shoots with us.
THR: This fall you're starring in "He's Just Not That Into You," which Warner Bros. will distribute for the collapsed New Line. Is Gigi anything like "Big Love's" Margene?
Goodwin: They're both un-self-aware. ... Gigi is definitely more awake and grounded than Margene and definitely less sensitive and -- dare I say -- more intelligent. Because you gotta admit, sometimes Margene is just a plain airhead.
THR: This project pairs you with yet another large and extremely accomplished cast of women. This seems to be a pattern for you.
Goodwin: I'm so spoiled rotten! I was sent my cast list (for the film), and I started crying! I hope that in a past life I did something really noble. But, you know, I'm big on not wasting time. And I've certainly gone more time than not not working because starting with "Mona Lisa Smile" set my sights so high.

Spotlight on Ginnifer Goodwin and "He's Just Not That Into You"
Ginnifer has gone from chubby outcast (on the tv series Ed) to best friend side-kick (Mona Lisa Smile, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton) to polygamist wife (Big Love) and finally to leading lady. Well, leading lady in an ensemble piece based on an advice book. In this highly original film, she plays a woman who has trouble finding love and then of course ends up falling for her best guy friend who was there the whole time (well that is what I deduced from the trailer.) Jennifer Aniston plays the same character as usual except this time it is Ben Affleck who won't marry her. Scarlett Johansson tries to have an affair with Jennifer Connely's husband (finally a happy film for Connely!) played by the adorable Bradley Cooper and then Drew Barrymore has something to do with the plot as well. Because what romantic comedy shouldn't have Drew Barrymore running around looking lost in a cute hat?

"Big Love" Star Ginnifer Goodwin Gets Big MaxMara Award
Ginnifer Goodwin of ā€œBig Love†fame was honored as MaxMara Face of the Future the other day at a Women in Film luncheon out in La-La. ā€œThere’s nothing more humbling than having folks who you respect so much tell you to keep doing what you love,†said the Boston University grad, who is currently filming Season 3 of the HBO series. ā€œI’m turning 30 in two weeks and I’m honored to have had the roles I’ve had so far. I can only hope that when I’m 50, I’ll just be picking roles out of a hat, and they will all be brilliant!ā€

Big Love Attempts to Overcome Aversion to Polygamy
The creators of Big Love have had their share of instinctive “yuck” to polygamy when what they saw onscreen had a different veneer to what seemed so palatable in the script. However, their initial aversion to the unusual practice of marriage has softened as they've worked on the premise of the HBO series.
"I couldn't tell what I was watching," series creator Mark V. Olsen said. "Is it a cult at work? Or is this a loving, valid family? It was very disturbing to me. But at the end of the day, I kind of like walking that line and letting the audience make up their own minds." Your Take
brentman79 said: WHO YOU TALKING ABOUT. IS IT GINNIFER GOODWIN. SHE IS BEAUTIFUL. see all »
"When I started, polygamy was beyond the pale," he added. "When we would hear women advocate polygamy I would say, 'You're brainwashed.' I don't feel that any more. In its best-case scenario, I see it as a valid lifestyle."
The fact that Big Love keeps even its creators guessing speaks to the subtle workings of the series, which hinges on the relationship between Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton) and his three wives Barbara (Jeanne Tripplehorn), Nicki (Chloe Sevigny) and Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin).
Luckily, more and more viewers are gradually gaining a wider grasp to the series, a sign that the Big Love is building a solid following. So after two seasons, the show returns with a deeper exploration of the nature of polygamy and, by extension, the concepts of marriage, family and faith.
"I think we proved ourselves," co-creator Will Scheffer said. "So they let us dramatize whatever we wanted. It took some of the creative shackles off and allowed us to write without a couple of little angels on either shoulder going, 'Will this alienate viewers?"'
"I think Mark [Olsen] and Will [Scheffer] have found a really clever lens to refract all kinds of ideas and contemporary mores about marriage and family," Paxton added. "I think we could become, oddly enough, kind of the first family of television."

"He's Just Not That Into You" Pushed Back
Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Jennifer Aniston's anticipated film "He's Just Not That Into You" is pushed back to a later date, New Line Cinema confirms.
The star-studded romantic comedy film will no longer be released on August 1, but at a tentative date of October 24 instead.
A rep for the film studio tells Life & Style, "That is the tentative date [October 24], though I don't believe its 100 percent official yet. It's definitely no longer August 1."
The film, according to a source, has been quietly moved because of the audience share of the "Sex and the City" film. The two films are expected to reach the same viewers' demographic, which is mainly females.
The source adds that Aniston had been looking forward to going against Sarah Jessica Parker's film because she believes that her movie will attract more viewers because of its cast.
The insider says, "Jen was looking forward to going up against the 'Sex' ensemble - especially Sarah Jessica - and some of the other summer blockbusters. They've never been friends in real life, and probably never will be."
"But Jen's convinced her film has a superior story and more attractive cast. People are going to compare these movies and she doesn't regret taking part in the project. This is the script that lured her back to work after taking two years off. She's standing by her belief that it is a worthy picture."
"He's Just Not That Into You" also stars Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kevin Connolly, and Bradley Cooper.
