| July 7, 2009 | Humane Society “Taking Action For Animals 2009″ Conference Coming to Arlington |
|
Hosted by the Humane Society, the “Taking Action for Animals 2009” conference in Arlington, Virginia, is one event that animal activists won’t want to miss. With the mission of helping attendees plan effective campaigns and successful lobbying habits that will further animal protection nationwide, the “Taking Action for Animals 2009” conference will feature actress Ginnifer Goodwin, songwriter Nellie McKay, and comedian Carol Leifer as speakers. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Art of the Possible: Change Animals Can Believe In.” While change has always been at the forefront of animal activism, the recent state of the economy has made the need for change and responsibility in the way we interact with animals that much greater. With the shaky economy nationwide, it’s not only people who have suffered, but animals as well. The primary difference is that animals are dependent on us to keep them safe. But as many of us struggle to keep our livelihoods and reduce spending, thousands of animals have become homeless or worse. While there is a welfare system in place for those of us who find ourselves in bad straights, there is no welfare system for animals. Even shelters that do their best are forced to euthanize pets that haven’t been adopted within a certain period of time. While it won’t be an overnight change, the “Taking Action for Animals 2009” conference can provide tools that will greatly improve the process. If you think this is something you’d be interested in attending, please take a moment to watch the video below. You can find information about how to attend the conference below:
